Health Trooper Badge Programme 2010

The Singapore Scout Association is in collaboration with HealthZone of the Health Promotion Board for the new Health Trooper Badge Programme to replace the old Healthy Lifestyle Proficiency Badge Course.

It is designed to include more levels of challenge for Cub Scouts, Scouts and Venture Scouts as well as more interactive activities to interest our youth members in health issued. It aims to promote greater awareness on the importance of having a healthy lifestyle amongst them. Through workshops, games, tests and hands-on health assignments, all youth members can pick up health tips and essential skills to better manage their health.

The Health Trooper Badge Programme is now open to Cub Scouts and Scouts for registration.

Details are as follows:-

Primary School Level: Junior Health Trooper Badge Course
- Open to Cub Scouts (aged 9-10 years) or Pri. 3 to 4.
- Course Fee: $3.00 per participant/Scout
- Closing Date: (Sat) 6 February 2010

Primary School Level: Star Health Trooper Badge Course
- Open to Cub Scouts (aged 11-12 years) or Pri. 5 to 6.
- Pre-requisite: Junior Health Trooper Badge
- Course Fee: $3.00 per participant/Scout
- Closing Date: (Sat) 6 March 2010

Secondary School Level: Dynamite Health Trooper Badge Course
- Open to Scouts (aged 13-14 years) or Sec. 1 to 2.
- Course Fee: $3.00 per participant/Scout
- Closing Date: (Sat) 12 June 2010

Secondary School Level: Warrior Health Trooper Badge Course
- Open to Scouts (aged 14-15 years) or Sec. 2 to 3.
- Pre-requisite: Dynamite Health Trooper Badge
- Course Fee: $3.00 per participant/Scout
- Closing Date: (Sat) 17 July 2010

The Supreme Health Trooper Badge for Venture Scouts will be opened at a later date.

Interested Scouts, please kindly sign up with your respective Patrol Leader before the closing date.

Craftman test

Dear All

Due to majority objected the craftman test result and claim that is unfair. I decided to void the test and will reopen the test to all interested Scouts.

Fairness is important and this is our core vaule.

The new test format....

All participants are to design and create one mini parachute which is able to undertakes the following:

The object which attach on to your parachute must weight within the range of 50 grams to 70 grams.

The parachute will be deployed at level four and it must able to stays in the air for 10 seconds or more.

There are no specification of the parachute. It can comes in any size or shape, as long it can carries the required weight.

This time round we will have 3 judges to assess and the result by the judges are final.

Submission date and time: 6 Feb 2010, 10am.

Please exercise good sportmanship. Don't blame the Scouts whom complaint.

Advanced Scout Standard Camp(ASSC) and Advanced Leadership Course (ALC)

Dear Scout,


We are pleased to inform that the 2010 Advanced Scout standard camp
(ASSC) and Advanced Leadership course (ALC), formerly known as the 1st
class camp will be held from 29 to 31 Jan 2010.


The ASSC is open to Scouts which joined in 2009 or senior batch. And for the Advanced Leadership Course (ALC), is only opened to Scouts which attained the Advanced Scout standard and pursuing their first class Scout standard.

15th NIPPON JAMBOREE 2010

Dear Scouts


We are pleased to inform you that the Scout Association of Japan is organising the 15th Nippon Jamboree at the Jamboree Site at the foot of Mt. Fuji from 2 – 8 August 2010.

There will be about 1,000 overseas participants in addition to 20,000 Scouts and Leaders throughout Japan. A warm welcome and traditional hospitality will await the participants.

Exciting and challenging activities will strengthen the ties and mutual friendship among overseas and Japanese participants. SSA encourages all Scout Groups to send their members to this jamboree.


GENERAL INFORMATION

Date : 2nd to 8th August 2010. Participants are expected to arrive on Sunday, 1 August and may leave Monday, 9 August.

Campsite : Located at the western foot of Mt. Fuji. Asagiri Plateau ‐ Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture

Climate : Average temperature between 19.7and 24.5 degrees celsius.

Theme : “Take Wing to the World!”

Eligibility : Scouts (aged 12‐18 on 1 August 2010)

Rover / Leaders (aged 19 and over)

International Service Team (IST) (aged 19 and above)

Estimated Fee : S$2400. The fees include Air Ticket, Travel Insurance, Jamboree
Participation kit (Badge and ID), meals for the duration of the
Jamboree, for 23 meals from dinner on 1 August.


All applications must be submitted to me on or before 1pm on 22 January 2010. The following itemsmust be submitted together with the application:

• Completed SSA International Overseas Scout Event Application Form duly signed by parents or guardian with Sponsoring Authority’s Endorsement.

• Two passport size photographs in Scout Uniform;

• Photocopy of valid passport

• Jamboree fees of S1000/‐
