WORLD SCOUT ENVIRONMENT PROGRAMME (WSEP) - SINGAPORE

The World Scout Environment Programme, launched in Singapore last year, focuses on the environment in a broad sense and provides support for Scouts to engage in environmental education activities, to learn about nature and the environment and to make informed choices about the environment, people and society.

The World Scout Environment Badge is an Award scheme available in three stages. It is open to all Sections (Cub Scout, Scout, Venture Scout and Rover Scout) who may attempt the Award individually or as a unit.

A website (http://wsep.nationalprogrammecouncil.org) has been created in the interests of a sustainable environment and to reduce the carbon footprint in the delivery of the Programme. All resources, including the Guidelines and Record Card, can be found online. Scouts should also use the online Reporting Form for the submission of completed records. Scouts and Unit Leaders are encouraged to visit the website regularly for updates on the Programme and its activities.

Proficiency Badges and projects undertaken for the Youth Programme’s progress awards and other schemes may be used to satisfy the requirements of the Award. Participation in all related activities conducted since the launch of the WSEP on 30 May 2009 can also be considered in fulfillment of the requirements of the Award scheme.

Submissions operate on a quarterly basis (April, July, October and January). The next deadline is Friday, 3 July 2010.
